Official Newsletter of Hi-Flyers RC Club

March 6, 2002

Vol. 1, No. 4

Fran Schaaf, Editor

Our last meeting was held at Godfather’s Pizza Hut on March 5, 2002. We had nine members present. There was no treasurer’s report due to Jan being ill and was not able to attend.

The combined Mall show was light in attendance and the number of modelers showing their aircraft was off due to the good weather that we have been having. The rubber band fun fly at the Aurora gym was well attended and a good time flying and eating pizza was had by the two clubs.

In new business it was decided that Verlon Goosic and Frank Weber were to be the intro pilots for the upcoming year for the fixed wing students and Lee Machmuller was to be the Heilo intro pilot. Gail and Jim announced that the "Auroran Days" will be held on June 22, 2002. They are planning a full-scale fly in along with a pancake feed for the fly in pilots, a hot air balloon demo, and model flying later in the day. We got a flyer from the Milford Lake R.C. club in Milford Ks. Informing us of their fun fly and open house on April 27, 2002. A $5.00 landing fee will be charged but will include a free lunch. They will also sponsor their 6th annual Helicopter fly on May 17, 18, 19, and further info can be obtained by e-mail to www.geocities.com/milfordrc . Central City is planning its annual celebration June 2nd, 2002 and will also have a fly in breakfast, static displays, and model flying. More to come as soon as all details are known.

In old business it was discussed what to do about the mower situation. Much was discussed but no firm decision was made. Lee volunteered to do some legwork and see if he could find a workable solution. We discussed our next money making event (Old-timer Fun Fly) and also whether or not the south field would be available to host the Helio Fun Fly due to the construction of the new interchange.

We have news in the "Swap and Shop" column . Jim has for sale six O.S. FX .61’s for $139.95 plus tax. These are brand new and still in the box. Call him if interested or e-mail him at his address on the HiFlyer home page. I have some extra 2 cycle Red Max fuel and also a good starter motor. Call me at home (308-382-1623) if interested. Be sure and let me know if you have goods to sell or swap so that I can enter them in the newsletter.

That’s all for now. Next meeting still to be at Godfather’s unless other plans are made.

Date: April 9, 2002 at 6:30 pm. See your there.

Remember to keep the "shiny side up upon landing" it goes much better that way.

See ya, Fran
